No, seriously. That was my attempt at writing something yesterday. I sat down by my bed (like I always do) with at least ten different things I wanted to write about, but just… blank. “It’s finally the end of the decade, Rachel old girl,” my crankly brain said to me, “I think you should take a nap.” So I drank a mug of coffee, forgot my entry and went to play with the baby. That’s about all that’s been going on with me. How have you been?

Oh I’ve been painting abit lately (not quite as well though). Art has been a(nother) sensitive topic with me, mostly because it’s something I really loved at one point. I feel a slightly sour twinge whenever I paint now, like an awkward reunion with a dear friend. It’s probably not at all that dramatic; just that it feels delicate and important somehow. It’s not something I can give to half-heartedly, and a tiny part of me wants to be really good at it again. But there always seem to be a million other things that need to be done. Am I being too neurotic?

But otherwise, things have been spiffy. I almost spent New Year’s in Canberra estate (Singapore, mind you), baking a lot (chocolate Guinness cake, different types of cookies, banana muffins, oreo cheesecake, a fruitcake etc for the holidays), swimming, taking photographs, reading. Sometimes I wonder if there’s such a thing as reading too much. Increasingly I feel like my thoughts and imagination are my natural dwelling place, rather than the “real world”.
